Getting Started with CBD
What you should know before your first time. An honest and scientific guide to getting started on the right foot in the world of CBD.
The essentials before you start
What exactly is CBD
CBD is one of more than 100 cannabinoids identified in the Cannabis sativa L. plant. Unlike THC, it is not psychoactive: it does not produce psychotropic effects. In Spain, its commercialization is legal as long as it comes from registered industrial varieties and contains less than 0.2% THC in the dried plant, with 0.0% in the final product.
How it works in your body
CBD interacts with more than 65 molecular targets: serotonergic (5-HT1A) receptors, vanilloid (TRPV1) receptors, PPAR-γ, among others. The sublingual route (drops under the tongue) offers rapid absorption (15-30 min) and better bioavailability than the oral route (capsules), which passes through the hepatic filter. The topical route acts locally.
How to get started smartly
Start with low-concentration oils (5% or 10%) until you know your tolerance. Follow the 'start low, go slow' rule: small doses and gradual adjustment every 3-7 days. Always demand a certificate of analysis (COA) from an independent laboratory. Full spectrum > broad spectrum > isolate in terms of 'entourage effect.'
